The more the trade protectionism raises its head, the more we should believe in the power of cooperation and win-win. The more populism and nationalism are rampant, the more we should believe in the power of humility and diversity. The more authoritarian politics dominate, the more we should believe in the power of inclusiveness and balance. The more the visible hand becomes aggressive, the more we should believe in the power of rule of law and market. The more de-intellectualization and anti-intellectualism prevail, the more we should believe in the power of growth and evolution. The more technology and capital have the ability to cause harm, the more we should believe in the power of soul and values.
As drifting as duckweed, we have no choice about what kind of era and world we live in. But we can choose what to admire, embrace, and not give up deep in our hearts, no matter how inappropriate or even absurd this adherence may temporarily seem, and no matter how weak and small those ideals that seem like from another world appear in the eye of the storm in the dark world.
